- Nope. The 68060 is a superscaler CPU, meaning it can potentially
- issue multiple instructions each clock cycle. Other superscaler CPUs
- include the Intel Pentium (this is somewhat arguable, as the second integer
- pipeline is severly limited), the Intel Pentium Pro (or P6), the Intel i960,
- the IBM RS/6000, the HP PA-RISC (PA-8000, for example), the DEC Alpha
- (21164 or 20164), the MIPS R10000, the Sun UltraSPARC, and of course the
- PowerPC 620. I know these are all superscaler, and I'm sure there are
- many others. The Intel i860 is superscaler too, if you count being able to
- execute an integer and floating point instruction simultaneously.
-
- In any event, the 68060 is the first (and last?) of the 680x0 line
- which is superscaler. The memory subsystem should be a bit more stressed
- when the 68060 is being run superscaler, but I am not familiar with the
- board and have no idea what you should look for. (Now, if you want to
- donate a 68060 board for my A3000, I'd be more than happy to check it out
- and find out what's going on for you. ;-)
